Exercise is magic

If pharma could bottle it, it would be the greatest drug in history.

Smoking doesn’t matter.
Well, not as much as we think.
And crucially – not as much as exercise.
Not even close.

We know this because science says so.
Two little numbers prove it.
VO2 Max. And all-cause mortality.
(Not exactly dinner-party chat, but stick with me.)

All-cause mortality measures risk of dying.
In other words, how unhealthy something is.
Smoking increases it by 50%.
That's bad.

So what about exercise?
Well that’s where VO2 max comes in.
It’s a measure of cardio fitness.
The best there is.

And here’s the kicker.
Having a low VO2 max.
That increases your risk of dying by 400%.
Eight times worse than smoking.
Yep, eight times.

Exercise isn't just healthy.
It's life-changing.
Just two and a half hours a week could buy you seven more years.
Seven more spins around the sun.

Carrots won't help you see in the dark.
Spinach won't make you Popeye-strong.
But exercise?
Magic hiding in plain sight.

If pharma could bottle it, it would be the greatest drug in history.
But they can't.
Because it’s free.
Double magic.
